Lots of interest in nuclear bunker
Published:  24 November, 2007

A number of interested people have visited the nuclear bunker for sale in Kildonan.

The former Royal Observer Corps (ROC) nuclear bunker near Kildonan is on the market for offers over £25,000.

Arran Estate Agents say that so far six people have been to see the bunker and there are other bookings for later on this week.

A spokesman for the estate agent said: ‘We have had a lot of phone calls about this site. It has been quite difficult to make sure that they are serious buyers.’

Some interested parties have been disappointed because it won’t be possible to build on the site.

‘Most of the people interested think they can build on top of the bunker but it won’t be possible. That has put quite a lot of people off.’

The property’s access is through a raised entrance hatch and a ladder leads six metres down to a living/bedroom area and a toilet.

There is no mains electricity or running water but a 12-volt DC power supply can be harnessed using a car battery. There is an area of 501 square metres at ground level but development opportunities are restricted.

‘This is a property for someone with a quirky sense of humour,’ said estate agent Bob Brass.
