Brodick Castle report rising visitor numbers
Published: 09 November, 2007
Brodick Castle has bucked a national trend and increased its visitor numbers by 10 per cent on last year.
The castle, which will celebrate its 50th year under the National Trust Scotland (NTS) banner in 2008, is now attracting more than 65,000 paying visitors a year.
And 20 years ago to the week, Brodick Castle featured in The Arran Banner headlines after it announced a jump of nearly 8,000 visitors, (52,935 to 60,644) between 1986 and 1987.
Ken Thorburn, Brodick Castle property manager, said: ‘In the last 20 years there has been a shift towards package holidays to Europe.
‘Built historic properties are seeing a downturn in visitor numbers but an increase in running costs so it is commendable that our numbers are on the increase.’
