Tyres of police vehicle are slashed
Published:  12 October, 2007

The police Land Rover was the victim of a ‘mindless act of vandalism’ at the weekend while parked outside the Auchrannie Hotel.

Three of its tyres were punctured in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Sergeant Douglas Bringan, who was covering from the mainland this week while Sergeant Bob MacKay was away on a course, said: ‘This was a mindless act of vandalism that impacted on the services that we were able to provide to the island.

The Land Rover carries defibrilator life support equipment and people’s lives were put at risk as a result of this act.’

He added: ‘Enquiries are continuing into this and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact us. Or they can phone information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they want to be anonymous.’
