It may only have been Arran’s second game of the season, but the island’s senior rugby team destroyed Clydesdale RFC 67-0 on Saturday, September 15 2012.
Within minutes of the game starting at the Ormidale Park Robbie Bayne put the first points on the board that were converted by Lachlan Jones to take Arran 7-0 up.
The home team kept the momentum going with another try soon after this time from Euan Evans. 14-0
Despite the one sided score line this was an intense game and Clydesdale were completing tough tackles.
But when Arran got a break they didn’t waste it, and Lachie proved this when he scored from the scrum. 19-0
Captain Niall McMaster undertook the most incredible drive down field and quick passes to Gregor Adamson then Danny Head led to the fourth try which was also converted to take Arran 26-0 into the lead.
More tries followed including a great one under the posts for Jamie Picken and one out wide from Sam Tattersfield to leave the score 43-0 at the halftime whistle.
