The annual beach sculpture competition has become a significant feature of Whiting Bay Fun Week.
On Thursday,July 26 2012 the beach below the putting green was packed with both the young and the not-so-young,armed with buckets and spades and a lot of imagination.
Some 25 teams spent around two hours creating their own particular masterpieces, under the watchful eye of competition judge, renowned local sculptor Tim Pomeroy.
The People’s Prize, chosen by the number of votes cast by members of the public, went to an amazing Gruffalo sculpture, made by Daniel Young,Alex Young and Charlie Brown,on holiday from Kirkby Lonsdale in the Lake District.
