Bad weather and unsuitable CalMac vessels are the reason for Arran’s frequent ferry cancellations not the harbour at Ardrossan, according to a detailed survey by Clydeport.
The company that own the harbour say they have been continually ‘investing in the shoreside facilities at Ardrossan’ but changes to the harbour itself are considered unnecessary.
The rate of ferry cancellations for Ardrossan is five per cent, which is far higher than CalMac’s average of two per cent across all other ports.
The ferry operator has implied that this was a result of berthing difficulties at the mainland port but Clydeport say this is not the case.
