Arran Rugby Club celebrated its surprise promotion to the third division on Saturday June 2 2012 with a special event at The Ormidale Hotel, Brodick.
Jim Stevenson, the former president of the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU), came to the island to present the club with a commemorative plate.
The trophy recognises their achievements in coming second in the league last season that subsequently led to promotion.
Mr Stevenson said that he was a great believer in supporting grassroots rugby and that Isle of Arran RFC was a great example of how a small rugby club should be.
‘It’s teams like Arran that make me proud to be part of the SRU,’ he told the assembled guests.
