Almost 80 primary school children from Arran took part in the local heat of the North Ayrshire Primary Schools Burns Verse Speaking competition on March 13.
Held in Arran High School,the children each recited a poem to a panel of three experienced Burns adjudicators – Jock Kelso from Shiskine,Tommy Gilmore from Brodick and Melanie McBlain who travelled over from the mainland.
