Following on from the success of a similar event last year,on Friday 20 January 2012 all S1 pupils were involved in an ‘Enterprise Day’ hosted by Arran High School and jointly organised with Auchrannie and Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce.
The theme was ‘Tourism’ where the challenge ‘to promote Arran tourism with a new Festival or Event’ was set by Richard Small,General Manager of Auchrannie. Pupils were split into seven teams, each led by a business advisor from Auchrannie or the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce and assisted by a senior pupil.
One group was also led by local Youth Worker,Graeme Johnston. Pupils had to consider how they could encourage more visitors in the quieter months on Arran in order to promote the island as an all year round destination for a range of tourists.
