The search for a man feared missing overboard from a yacht that set sail from Lochranza on Wednesday afternoon was resumed on Thursday Jaunuary 19 2012 by coastguards from Arran,Rothesay,Tarbert,Carradale,Ardpatrick and Kames;lifeboats from Arran and Tighnabruaich,Strathclyde Police Marine Unit,and police helicopter VM70.
Coastguards,two lifeboats and a search and rescue helicopter were called out on January 18 2012 at 2.20pm to search for the man feared missing in the Kilbrannan Sound.
The yacht had been moored on the Lochranza pontoon for four days before the lone sailor set off after lunchtime on Wednesday.
The search was suspended at 3.30pm due to worsening weather conditions.
Police have informed the missing man’s next of kin.
