Following recent serious disruptions to Arran’s ferry service,Monday night’s Ferry Committee meeting discussed the serious possibility of using the old ore terminal at Hunterston as ‘a port of refuge’.
Committee chairman Ken Thorburn told The Banner:‘The recent disruptions due to the bad weather were an absolute nightmare.
‘We need to have a service that sails at least once a day. This is not fit for purpose.’
CalMac interim managing director Garry Robertson was at the meeting and the issue of accessibility at Ardrossan harbour was on the agenda.
